Australian V8 Ute: Sieders aiming for a Sandown turnaround

to boost Championship chase.

The mid-season break has given new focus, and a new addition, for Dave "Sideways" Sieders as he heads into the final four rounds of the 2014 Australian V8 Ute Racing Series - fuelled by Hogs Breath Cafe at Sandown International Motor Raceway this weekend, 12-14 September 2014.

The 30 year old from Western Sydney trails Kris "Killa" Walton on the Armor All Drivers Leaderboard by just 18 points, and knows that he has a tough challenge this weekend as the Sandown circuit is the only one of the remaining tracks this year that he hasn't previously had a race win or round podium.

"We've been fast at Sandown, we even got pole here in 2011, but I've been turned around in both of the last two rounds here and haven't been able to get on the podium," said Sieders, "Kris has shown he has great ability at Sandown and he pretty much dominated it in his debut round in 2011, and backed it up with a podium last year".

"There's a bit of a buffer of points [84] behind us now, so while we remain focussed on maximising points, taking poles, race wins and keeping the car straight, we also have a clear goal of getting, and staying, in front of Kris in every points session until the end of the season."

Despite no V8 Ute racing excitement since the July, Sieders has had some off-track celebrations recently, with the birth of his third child, Beau Lachlan Sieders, coming less than a week before Father's Day.

"This past week has been fantastic, Beau's a perfect fit to our family and our other two kids absolutely love him to bits," said Sieders, "it was impeccable timing, allowed me to be there and spend just over a week with him before flying down to Melbourne to race".

Sieders will take to the track this weekend with increased support from Creative Signworx as well as promoting a recent agreement that sees the family business Alltrans Trucks & Spares taking on the regional dealership rights to Foton Trucks.

"Phil from Creative Signworx has been a tremendous supporter since he first got involved a few years ago, and does a great job of wrapping our cars, and pretty much anything else," said Sieders, "the Foton dealership is an exciting venture, and adds another level to our existing truck sales and repairs business".

The V8 Utes will hit the track for two practice sessions on Friday, with Saturday morning's schedule including qualifying at 9:05am and race one at 11:45am, and races two and three on Sunday at 9:10am and 12:00pm. Television coverage this weekend includes two races, broadcast on 7Mate at 12:55pm on Saturday and 12:00pm on Sunday.

"Rain, hail or shine this weekend, we're determined to get out there and keep working away at that points gap to Kris and that V8 Utes Championship."
