Tutumlu recovers to take 4th in Super GT

A very tough race for Isaac Tutumlu and Barzani Racing during yesterday´s International GT Open race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Tutumlu was aiming for a good result on home soil but things went awry for the duo in the Chevrolet Corvette C6/ZR1 entered by Selleslagh Racing Team when Archie Hamilton wasn´t able to improve 12th place on the starting grid, not a good place to handle their time handicap.

Hamilton performed very well on the opening lap overtaking five cars. After twenty minutes the Briton waspassed by César Campaniço (Team Novadriver Audi R8 LMS ultra) and Jerome Policand (Team Sofrev ASP Ferrari 458 Italia) and running 9th headed into the pit-lane for his mandatory pit-stop. With Tutumlu already at the wheel of the American car, he rejoined 16th and after a hard work he ended up 4th in class and 9th overall.

In the words of Tutumlu, “we knew how difficult this race was, but everything got worse when we couldn´t improve 6th row on the grid. Archie passed several cars at the beginning and when I took over the car, after 100 seconds in the pit-lane, I was at the back of the field. Anyway I was able to gain some places, overtaking seven cars”. Barzani Racing Team driver added that “we didn´t change our tires in the pit-stop, s we decided to save our two best set of tires for tomorrow. IT was a thrilling and demanding end with Griffin and Kox right behind. Tomorrow we eye a podium finish with a less unfavorable time handicap”.

Race two starts tomorrow at 14.00.
