Huilin Han joins Asia Racing Team for AFR season finale

Asia Racing Team has confirmed that Huilin Han will join the team’s Asian Formula Renault Series squad for the season finale at the Sepang International Circuit this weekend.

Without previous experience with the Formula Renault 2.0/13, Huilin will go straight into the non-official practice on Thursday morning at Sepang. However, his experience of a range of touring cars and single seaters should serve him well as he joins the Renault Sport supported series in Asia.

Huilin, a native of Beijing, China, currently competes in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia. His resume includes experiences in Ferrari Challenge Asia Pacific, where he finished as first runner up in the Pirelli Trofeo AM Class in 2016, Renault Clio Cup China Series, China GT Championship, 24H SERIES, V de V Endurance Series and Global Mazda Mx5 Cup.

Huilin jumped at the chance to race in Malaysia, “I’m excited to be joining Asia Racing Team because they have a great history in the championship. I think the championship and the car is a great platform for drivers and a competitive field, which is great for a driver. Looking ahead to the weekend, I know that the Sepang International Circuit is physically very tough, and it will be my first time with the car, but that’s one of my favourite racing tracks. I am highly motivated to attack again and I hope to complete both races.”

The race weekend will get underway on Friday with two official free practice sessions. Saturday will consist of the qualifying session in the morning and the opening race of the weekend in the afternoon, while Sunday features the second and final race of the season.
