Trident announce Ryan Tveter for Austrian F2

Tveter to debut in FIA Formula 2 with Trident at the Austrian Grand Prix.

The New York based driver, who competed with Trident in the 2017 and 2018 GP3 Series with a raft of podiums and strong results, will debut in the FIA Formula 2 Championship this weekend for the Italian team.

Today in Spielberg there will be a very welcome return to the Trident Team: 25-year-old American Ryan Tveter re-joins the Milan-based squad to make his debut in FIA Formula 2. Tveter, of Oyster Bay, NY, competed with the Italian team in the 2017 and 2018 GP3 Series seasons collecting five podium finishes, over 145 points, and the fastest race lap at the last-ever GP3 Series race in Abu Dhabi last year. The American driver has a very competitive history on the Red Bull Ring as well with a 5th and a 4th place finish in the 2017 GP3 feature and sprint races respectively including a strong points finish and front row start in the 2018 round. After the GP3 Series wrapped up its final round at the Yas Marina Circuit last year, Tveter got his first taste of FIA Formula 2 machinery with Trident during the official post season test, posting the 4th fastest time and fastest of the rookies his first morning in the car. Ryan Tveter will replace the Swiss driver Ralph Boschung.

“I am incredibly excited to be back with the Trident family again and am so grateful for the opportunity to make my debut in FIA Formula 2 this weekend in Austria. Together we have achieved some pretty remarkable results over the last two seasons and I thank Trident for showing their continued confidence in me. It’s been a bit of a long wait since my first F2 test in Abu Dhabi last year, but as you can imagine, I’m beyond excited to get back out on track."

Giacomo Ricci, Trident Team Manager

"I'm really happy to announce that Ryan will return to a grand prix weekend wearing the Trident Team colours in Spielberg. It could not be otherwise, given the strong bond that exists between Ryan and the team. We will give one hundred percent plus to provide Ryan with a car to the calibre of the results we know he can deliver."
