Manchesters Daytona F1 Challenge

…and its launching this Fathers’ Day!

The BBC’s coverage of the world’s greatest motorsport competition has millions of viewers wondering what it would be like to be Jenson Button or Lewis Hamilton for just one day. Well now they can get very close thanks to Daytona Manchester’s superb ‘Daytona F1 Challenge’ format launching on Father’s Day 21st June before the British Grand Prix from Silverstone.Developed by Gorton raised Daytona Manchester Race Director Stephen Pitts, the F1 Challenge mirrors the exact format F1 drivers experience at every stop on their world tour. “Many of our regular racers are big fans of F1 and when the Grand Prixs are screened at a suitable time they come down and watch it in our bar. It seemed obvious to combine that interest with a racing experience so I decided to develop the F1 Challenge in my spare time,” said self proclaimed F1 fanatic and Hulme resident, Stephen.  At each F1 event the Race Director will select a track from the F1 calendar – Silverstone, Monaco, Monza etc. – before drivers experience between 1 and 3 qualifying sessions and a final race where the laps completed will be the same as the circuit chosen. In the first 8-minute qualifying session the slowest 4 of the 14 drivers to qualify will automatically be allotted the last 4 places on the final race grid. In the second 5-minute session the slowest 4 of the remaining 10 drivers will race for places 7 to 10 and in the final 5-minute session the remaining 6 drivers will battle it out for Pole.    To make the F1 Challenge even more authentic professionally sampled sounds from F1 pit lanes and tracks will be blasted out on the venue’s impressive speaker system. With so much attention to detail drivers will be forgiven for thinking they are actually there“Authenticity is the key and it’s been my aim to get as close to the real thing as is humanly possible. We’ve been really pleased with the trial feedback and are now looking forward to making it a regular feature on Daytona Manchester’s racing calendar. I can’t wait for the green light on Fathers’ Day,” added Stephen. Daytona Manchester General Manager Michael Yau added: “On top of our already successful Arrive and Drive, Endurance and Grand Prix formats the Daytona F1 Challenge will add a fantastic new dimension to the Daytona racing experience. It will eventually be rolled out to all Daytona circuits so for Stephen to have developed such an innovative new format is something we are all extremely proud of,”The Daytona F1 Challenge will be launched on Fathers’ Day but will be available for groups pre-booking from that date on.
