GHIOTTO KEEPS PREMA COLOURS HIGH IN RACE 2 PODIUM DE NARDA AND TIRMAN (ARTA ENGINEERING)

He managed it in Spa but he confirmed it in Monza as well. Second season win for Luca Ghiotto came on the Italian track during the Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS fourth venue. The Italian seized race 2 keeping Prema colours high that just the day before flown for a one/two finish with Antonio Fuoco's win and Bruno Bonifacio's second.

For both of them Sundays race podium proved elusive due to contact in the very first lap that forced the Brazilian to retire. For Fuoco, Saturday's pole setter, only a sixth overall outcome after an impressive recovery.

Another good recover fromKevin Gilardoni (GSK Grand Prix) who having experienced some problems in qualifyiong, managed tenth and seventh in the two races starting from 27th. The Russian Egor Orudzhev (Tech1 Racing), who had Race 2 poledue to the best second lap time in qualifying wast penalized with 25s  for not respecting the Safety-Car procedure, and his place on podium went to Joffrey De Narda, with Simon Tirman (third) taking the other podium step for Arta Engineering .

THE REPORT. Orudzhev has no rivals at the start with Fuoco that could only take his tail. A contact between him and his team mate Bonifacio force the latter to retire and pushes Fuoco back in 17th. At the same time Cazzaniga spins while Peccenini pits. Another crash at the first Lesmo curve brings the safety car out and it remains on track for three laps. Joerg, not aware of the slower cars ahead of him hits the barrier on the straight to avoid them. At the restart Ghiotto finds a gap and passes Orudzhev taking the lead. Third place for De Narda chased by Tirman and Dalewski (later penalized with 10 for not respecting the track limit and thus 10th overall under the chequered flag). Pit for Dario Capitanio while Amado ends wide at Parabolica. Fuoco recovery continues. Ghiotto takes the flag as first while Orudzhev second is later penalized.

Ive managed a good start and when my team mates were involved in the crash I had clear track ahead of me. Ive slipped by Orudzhev before Ascari, but cause I was not sure about yellow flags being waived, I gave back the lead repeating my maneuver soon afterwards. Im also happy cause my team managed to solve my set up problems which afflicted me in Race 1 but mostly for the 25 points gathered. - declared Ghiotto.

Just for the report, Fuocos Engine has been sealed and sent to Oreca in France for an in depth control. Next Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS venue is set in less than three weeks time, on the 27th and 28th July, in Misano.
