FortuneSport Continues Development of A Legitimate Competitor to the Super Car Elite Why should you have to pay $250,000 for exotic car styling?FortuneSport Vehicle Engineering Systems, LLC (FortuneSport) confirms continued commitment to the development of the Rt.S Concept announced in 2008. The first Rt.S prototype mule is being developed while a second prototype will be available for initial journalist review spring of 2014.
The Rt.S, a 2,500 pound, 425 horsepower sports coupe, has seen its specifications change due to more stringent safety regulations and the increased focus on emissions. While the aluminum semi-monocoque, integral steel roll cage, mid-mounted V8, and a pushrod suspension system remain, horsepower, technological footprint, and weight have increased. Projected retail price has been raised from $85,000to $95,000.
FortuneSport scored a major victory this month when Todd Lamb, former Publisher of 2 Wheel Tuner magazine and current World Challenge Touring Car driver for Compass 360 Racing, signed on to become the lead development driver. Todd’s background in motorsports, automotive engineering, and vehicle testing will be vital in the delivery of a world-class sports car.
Designed by Turkish stylist Emre Husmen, the Rt.S has key weight-saving features such as full composite bodywork, chassis-integrated seats, and BBS wheels. Target specifications are a power-to-weight ratio of 6:1 and a 0-60 time of less than 4 seconds with a top speed in excess of 185 miles per hour.
The vehicle will be ready for the public in 2016 with production limited to 500 copies per year.
Initially announced in July, 2008, financing for the company evaporated following the economic down turn; nevertheless, the project was continued by Teritius Fortune and a small group of investors. A crowd-funding campaign was launched Monday to finance intermediate development. The funds raised on Kickstarter.com will be used to purchase and manufacture tooling and replacement components for the vehicle, to rent race tracks for development driving, and development of the bodywork styling.
