MONZA TESTS ARE OVER: CHARLES LECLERC (FORTEC MOTORSPORTS) IS THE FASTEST IN THE TWO-DAY SESSIONS

Ten Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS teams and 20 drivers, were involved in a two-day test held at the Monza track by Marzi Sport on Wednesday and Thursday. Just three days after the Spa-Francorchamps venue, most of the teams involved in the Fast Lane Promotion series, moved to Northern Italy. A 800Km journey aimed in preparing for the best the upcoming round of the 2 liters Renault-powered cars series, due on the first weekend on July in Monza.

Setting the fastest lap time at the end of both days was the Monaco driver Charles Leclerc (Fortec Motorsports), twice third overall in the recent Belgian round. He clocked 1’49”684, just 113 thousands from 2013 pole position. Extremely quick also Dario Capitanio, on Wednesday second fastest. The Italian BVM Racing racer lapped only one day though preceding the Indonesian Tech 1 Racing driver Philo Paz Patric Armand. Once more on shields the young Russian Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport), who set on Friday the second best lap time in 1’49”820, just ahead of the Brit George Russell (Koiranen GP).

To be pointed out the debut of yet another Russian, Denis Bulatov with GSK Grand Prix. On the MGR Motorsport car there was Pietro Fittipaldi, grandson of the legendary Emerson, who joined the series at Spa last week. Unwanted protagonist of both day was a terrific heat which reached 40°C even if the second session of Friday was red flagged for the furious rain which fell on some part of the track.
