Motorbase Performance sent to launch to new audience‏

The Motorbase Performance Ford Focus Touring Car and branding featured in new GRID Autopsport video gameMotorbase Performance is set to reach a whole new audience after teaming up with award-winning video game developer and publisher Codemasters on its new GRID Autosport video game for Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3 and Windows PC.

The recently launched racing game is the latest in the hugely popular GRID series and features the Motorbase built Ford Focus ST next generation touring car as part of its Touring Car collection. The Motorbase Performance logo also features as environment hoarding within the career mode, with gamers having the option to customise their car with the Motorbase Performance logo in the game’s online mode.

GRID Autosport brings the experience of becoming a professional racing driver alive in a new world of contemporary and classic motorsport. Drawing in spirit from classic Codemasters titles such as the TOCA series, players will experience a world of excitement that only racing can deliver. The game has been developed in conjunction with community feedback and retains the core GRID focus of being ‘all about the race.’

“The design philosophy behind GRID Autosport was to create a really focussed racing game,” said James Nicholls, Chief Games Designer, GRID Autosport. “We’ve jettisoned anything that doesn’t support the on-track competition and we’ve chosen a selection of cars and tracks that will give players a range of different racing experiences.

“Having Motorbase Performance on board has been a vital ingredient in helping us to deliver authenticity to the gamer. In developing GRID Autosport, we consulted extensively with the GRID Community and professional racing drivers such as Mat Jackson and Jack Clarke, and their input has really helped us to strike the right balance for players whilst authentically capturing the feel of our Touring Cars.”

GRID Autosport features over 100 routes across 22 incredible locations and the world’s most exciting contemporary and classic high-performance racing cars to collect, tune and upgrade. Motorbase Performance played an integral part in the development of the game working closely with the Codemasters team to provide support and input into the visual design, performance and audio of the Ford Focus ST next generation touring car.

The partnership extended throughout the Motorbase squad with Airwaves Racing driver Mat Jackson and Crabbie’s Racing driver Jack Clarke assisting the development team with essential feedback on the tracks, handling and playability. Motorbase BTCC driver Fabrizio Giovanardi and British GT drivers Ahmad Al Harthy and Rory Butcher all feature heavily in the promotional trailers for the Touring Car and Endurance classes.

“It’s been a real eye-opener working behind the scenes with the Codemasters team”, said Oly Collins, Motorbase Performance Team Manager. “Many of us are already big fans of the GRID games and I grew up playing TOCA, so to play our part with GRID Autosport is awesome. We were flattered to have been approached and delighted to have been involved with such a prestigious brand as GRID. Hopefully our input will help to deliver a new dimension to the game and to introduce a new fan base to Motorbase Performance, Touring Cars and GT racing.

"Codemasters have done a great job with the game and I've loved playing it just as much as my 7 year old since getting hold of a copy!”

To celebrate the recent release of GRID Autosport, Motorbase Performance and Codemasters have teamed up with a number of websites to offer racing fans the chance to win copies of the new game via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the #GRIDAutosport hashtag.
