70 cars will be going under the hammer in Silverstone Auctions’ sale at the Practical Classics Restoration Show and Classic Car Show taking place this Sunday 6th March at the NEC, Birmingham.
The auction offers the opportunity to purchase an eclectic range of cars including some of the finest classics and modern supercars through to exciting barn finds and restoration projects.
Headlining the sale is a very special, limited edition 2011 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0, one of only 600 examples made and the last of the Mezger engined Porsches. Estimated at between £250,000 and £300,000 the car is a must have for any serious Porsche collector.
Those who prefer Italian machinery will certainly be tempted by a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV, the last Lamborghini produced before VW took ownership of the company, estimated at between £150,000 and £170,000. A 1976 Ferrari 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer, one of just 86 right-hand drive examples produced, is estimated at between £290,000 and £340,000.
A rare and historically important Land Rover, a 1950 Land Rover Series I Station Wagon Coachwork by Tickford, is estimated at between £35,000 and £40,000. Not only that but one of the oldest Land Rovers in existence, a 1948 Series I Chassis #149, is estimated at between £27,000 and £32,000. Sympathetically restored by the vendor, Chassis #149 is finished in the correct Sage Green.
From Newport Pagnell comes a 1985 Aston Martin Lagonda, specially built by the company for the 1986 New York Motor Show. The left-hand drive car was displayed on the Aston Martin stand and shortly after sold to a Mr J. Schnepf of Newport Beach, California. He covered limited mileage during his ownership before it was imported to the Netherlands and registered there prior to the current vendor's purchase. The car was then taken to Desmond J Smail's, one of the UK's premier Aston Martin specialists, where it was subject to a comprehensive recommissioning. It is now offered for sale, estimated at between £80,000 and £100,000.
For those that have always dreamt of restoring a classic car then the sale features some very interesting motorcars.
An original UK right-hand drive, matching numbers 1978 Aston Martin V8 Series III is offered as a non-running project, the perfect candidate for a full restoration and estimated at between £45,000 and £55,000. A very rare 1963 ISO Rivolta GT restoration project is offered at no reserve, while an original UK 1959 Facel Vega HK500 barnfind is estimated at between £45,000 and £55,000.
From the silver screen comes an amazing 1957 Bedford CA van which starred in the hit film ‘The Lady in the Van’ alongside Dame Maggie Smith, estimated at between £9,000 and £12,000.
For the first time at this sale Silverstone Auctions will also be offering a selection of luxury watches and automobilia.

Viewing of the lots will be available all day at the show Saturday 5th March with automobilia and watches going under the hammer on Sunday at 10.30am followed by motorcars at 1.30pm.
