GP2 Pantano on pole for Super Nova

Adam Carroll who won the previous race in Monaco was hoping for another good qualifying result yesterday during the thirty minute session which was held in hot sunny conditions, unfortunately he did not get his wish and qualified in 13th place. Giorgio Pantano who has had immense bad luck the past three races due to some car problems which have now been rectified, looked good throughout his practice session in the morning setting the 3rd quickest time.  In qualifying  we could not fault his performance as he finished in Pole Position followed closely by Roseberg (Art Grand Prix) and Kovalainen (Arden) only 10th of a second behind.

Giorgio Pantano 1:43.862 (P1)

“I am very happy, we have had some problems with the car but they have now been fixed, so now we are back! I want to say thanks to the team as they have worked hard doing all these changes and made a new seat for me which I am grateful for.  I hope I can win tomorrow and start as I mean to go on!”

Adam Carroll 1:44.914 (P13)

“I was hoping to achieve better results as we set the car up differently but due to the F1 cars being out on the circuit before us we had over-set the front of the car so I could not gain anymore time.  Nurburgring is the hardest track I have been on so far and I did not perform as well as I wanted to but I hope to bring it back in tomorrows race, preferable finishing in the top 8”.

Team Principal – David Sears

“Many congratulations to Giorgio Pantano and his engineer for getting Pole today. After encountering several problems the last few races we now hope they have gone away!  Giorgio Pantano has now gained two points for his first pole of the year.  The whole team are looking forward to tomorrows race.  Adam Carroll did not manage to put a good lap time in, all the times were very close, he ended up in thirteenth place on the grid, however Adam is a canny racer and I am sure he can still collect a point or two tomorrow.  In fact if he finishes in the eighth place this will be reversed for Sunday leaving him on Pole!.”

“If both drivers can finish well this weekend it will put us up in both the Team and Driver Championship”.
