GP2 Eventful race for Super Nova

It was certainly a thrilling and eventful second race at Nurburgring at the weekend. Piccione (Durango) took a well deserved win ahead of Super Nova’s Adam Carroll who drove an amazing race. He started 21st on the grid, had an excellent start and finished 2nd followed by Piquet and Rosberg who both were on Adam’s tail immediately behind him.  There were many battles throughout the forty-five minute sprint race and Giorgio Pantano who was in the leading group for the whole race, spun on the last lap to finish in 7th Position.

Giorgio Pantano (P7)

“I had an excellent start and I think I would have been second but another driver came into the first corner too fast and I had to lift off the throttle to avoid an accident. I was pushing really hard the first half of the race and was running in 5th place. It started to feel like I had lost some grip on the front of the car as it was becoming slippery, I made a mistake and dropped back to finish 7th.  I am looking forward to next few races as the car is now better and I can hopefully gain some more points”.

Adam Carroll  (P2)

“It was a great race! I would say that the car was not particularly quick, I just managed to use all the events of the race to my advantage, I over took nine cars on the first lap and then I was running in 7th position bumper to bumper with the leading pack, I passed Giorgio and was then running in forth, I was struggling to pass Piquet and Rosberg who were ahead battling for 2nd and 3rd position but then they both took the corner wide and I just slip past them into 2nd place.  I am really pleased and want to say thank you to the team for working so hard to fix my car last night.”

Team Principal – David Sears

“We had an incredible race today at Nurburgring with Adam Carroll coming from 21st on the grid to finish in 2nd, he had an amazing drive.  For a lot of the race Giorgio Pantano was in front of Adam and the Super Nova drivers seemed to be dicing with each other.  They both caught up with the leading group and Adam managed to get ahead of Giorgio who looked to finish in 4th place until he spun on the last lap and dropped back to 7th collecting no points.

Super Nova International is now second in the teams championship and Adam Carroll is third in the driver’s championship.

The whole team are looking forward to a break although they will be testing in June, July sees and extremely hectic schedule with four races! ”.
