Edwards set for Carrera Cup debut
Sam Edwards will make his Carrera Cup GB debut with Motorbase Performance at Brands Hatch this weekend (4/5 June). The 21-year old will join Andy Britnell in the team as a warm-up run ahead of a planned full Carrera Cup campaign in 2006. To date, he has raced in Formula BMW and Formula Palmer Audi, scoring several podium finishes in Palmer Audi. However, he has also suffered more than his share of misfortune during two seasons in single-seaters."We want to do a full Carrera Cup season next year and we're looking to do some more races this year," says Sam's father Terry, a former Production Saloon racer. Edwards has already shown excellent speed in testing with the team."We are really impressed with what we've seen of Sam," says team boss David Bartrum. "He's shown tremendous natural speed and he is definitely a talent for the future. We're very keen to work with him this year and beyond."Edwards will be backed by Edwards Haulage of Uxbridge.
