Busy Watkins Weekend Awaits Darren Law in Grand American Competition
After a competitive showing at the Mont-Tremblant 6-hour event two weeks ago, Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the #58 Red Bull Brumos Porsche team are ready to carry that momentum to the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen at Watkins Glen International, the weekend of June 10-12. The 2004 results of the Sahlen's Six-Hour reveal the Brumos team to have finished a solid 6th with competitive speed through that weekend. Law, who has had many successful races at the famous and challenging 3.4 mile Watkins Glen circuit is ready to tackle the six-hour endurance contest. "We seem to do well at these longer races," remarked Law, referring to the nearly doubled duration of the Watkins race versus the standard 3-hour format. "We can rely more on a consistent pace and some race strategy, although we'll all be driving pretty hard, just like last year. We are tied for 7th in the point standings, and we would like to get some points from this race to move up that ladder." Law's weekend will also include a Grand-Am Cup race where he will pilot the #6 Zoom Motorsports Porsche 996 in the Grand Sport class. Law and co-driver/team principal Mike McCalmont will be shooting for their first win after finishing 2nd the last two races. "We've got a real strong effort with the #6 Porsche and the whole Zoom crew," said Darren. "I hope we can put that car into victory circle sometime here soon." The Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen will be televised live on SPEED starting at 10 AM ET June 12th.
