THE MOVIES' GREATEST CARS
[TX: Wednesday 27th July 2005, 8pm]
Whether it's travelling back in time, launching passengers through the air on ejector seats or generally causing mayhem and destruction on the road, the movie car has taken film viewers on some spectacular rides throughout the years. But with so many to choose from, which would you vote Moviedom's greatest car?
Well ask no more, As Sky One counts down its list of The Movies' Greatest Cars revealing what you have chosen as your all-time favourite. The competition has been tough but nearly seventeen thousand votes were cast to whittle away the dodgy motors and leave a starting line-up of some of the most legendary and celebrated cars ever to grace the big screen.
Presented by Car Magazine editor and former Top Gear presenter Jason Barlow, a man who can perform a handbrake turn on-screen with the best of them, The Movies' Greatest Cars will count down, from 30 to number one, the cars you've voted your favourite. Will Herbie bump the Batmobile off the racetrack? Will Bond's Aston Martin see off Starsky's Ford Torino or will they all fall before the engineering ingenuity of Marty Mcfly's time-travelling DeLorean. There's only one way to find out.
The cream of today's driving gurus are on hand to give their expert commentary and opinion on the choices you've made. They line up alongside a whole host of car obsessed celebrities, car and film journalists and movie stunt drivers to give their take on the final rundown.
Motoring fanatic Quentin Wilson waxes lyrical on Starsky's Torino, a car according to him "which handled like a pair of Y-Front's in a tumbledryer", whilst Richard Hammond tells us how the security refinements of the movie Batmobile would have been perfect during his stay in Blackpool. Meanwhile sexy speed babe Suzi Perry reveals why the Ghostbusters customised ambulance was "genius" and yet very much "Bonkers" at the same time.
So, with all the votes in, which iconic vehicle have you crowned as your all-time favourite movie car? All will be revealed exclusively on Sky One on 26th July.
