Mortimer returns to Carrera Cup
Alex Mortimer will return to the Carrera Cup GB debut with Team RPM at Brands Hatch this weekend (4/5 June). Having raced and won extensively in Radicals, Mortimer made an impressive Carrera Cup debut at Snetterton in September 2004 and now aims to build on his experience in the 911 GT3 Cup car.The 20-year old law student will contest the pair of races after regular driver Emmanuel Crouvisier hit budgetary problems. Crouvisier is also likely to sit out the next round at Oulton Park, but hopes to rejoin the RPM squad later in the season.Mortimer will line-up alongside team leader Tim Harvey and Steve Clark in the three-car squad. He will also renew a friendly rivalry with Susie Stoddart, which goes back to their time in karting. Stoddart is racing the Porsche Cars with Team Autosport VIP car this weekend.Team boss Robin Mortimer is keen to fill the team's third seat for the balance of the season. Anyone joining the team will be able to benefit from racing alongside Harvey as the former BTCC champion bids for the overall Carrera Cup title.
