Pirtek, the UK’s leading provider of Fluid Transfer Solutions, has entered the hotly contested world of GT racing by becoming a co-sponsor of the much-fancied Team Eurotech. Famous for providing on-site emergency hydraulic hose replacements, Pirtek operates from more than 90 dedicated Service and Supply Centres across the UK backed by a fleet of more than 350 mobile workshop vehicles.
Pirtek has extended its motor sport associations with the announcement that it has become a co-sponsor of the popular Team Eurotech, joining business partner John Guest as a key supporter of the highly successful, three-car British GT team. The announcement coincides with Pirtek’s announcement that it is to sponsor the former treble-winning Pirtek Tigers speedway team for a fourth consecutive year and comes hot on the heels of the enormous success of the Pirtek-sponsored V8 supercar driven by Marcos Ambrose in the V8 Supercar Championship in Pirtek’s native Australia.Joining a Successful Team
“We were originally introduced to Team Eurotech by our supplier and key business partner John Guest,” explains Pirtek sales director Russell Mundell. “Having enjoyed considerable success with our sponsorship of the Pirtek Tigers speedway team, we fully understand the benefits of a strong association with a successful motor sport team and they don’t come much more successful than Team Eurotech.”
Over the years, Team Eurotech has won 31 championships, including the coveted British GTO and the Porsche Cup, which it dominated throughout the 1990s. The team’s move into GT racing came in 2000 and was an immediate success as Mark Sumpter clinched the British GTO title in a Porsche 911GT3R. In 2004, the team concentrated on the British GT Championship, and entered no less than four Porsches in British GT.
For 2005, British GT is again at the centre of the team's plans as well as an involvement in the Michelin Porsche Open Series. A three-car British GT team will comprise Jordan/Caine and Jones/Jones with Scott/Wood again chasing glory in the GT Cup class. 2005 is also the tenth consecutive season that Team Eurotech and John Guest have worked together, making it one of the most successful and enduring partnerships in British motor racing.
“As a company that has built its reputation on responsiveness and quality of service, we are delighted to be associated with a team that embodies both speed and quality,” concludes Russell Mundell. “We’re now looking forward to converting staff and customers from our national network into avid Team Eurotech supporters!”
