Student gets Carrera Cup opportunity
Adam Pearson, a 22-year old student from Myerscough College, is spending the season on a work placement with the Porsche Cars GB race team. Pearson, from Guisborough, will spend the Carrera Cup race weekends working on the Porsche Cars with Team Autosport VIP car.“It’s a good insight into the industry and it’s good to get hands-on experience,” says Pearson, who was offered the place by Porsche Cars GB in support of its membership of the Automotive Manufacturers' Racing Association Ltd.Pearson has recently completed his foundation degree and will start a final year in September at the Preston college to take a BA honours degree in motorsport management.“The team is giving me a lot of information on all aspects of running a car at this level,” said Pearson at Brands. His placement is being overseen by Philip Boland, manager of motorsport operations at Myerscough College.“We are pleased to be in a position to support the college and give Adam the chance to spend seven race weekends with the team,” says Marion Barnaby, motorsport co-ordinator for Porsche Cars GB. “We are sure that he will learn a lot from this hands-on opportunity.”
