Oulton challenge Awaits Bratt

Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin sensation Will Bratt faces a tough challenge in a little over a week’s time, when the seventh and eighth rounds of the season take place at the legendary Oulton Park Island Circuit.Adderbury ace Will, who currently leads the category’s ‘B4 Group Graduate Cup’ class, has never competed on the Island Circuit configuration of the Cheshire venue, but he is a fan of the track and enjoyed good performances there during his title-winning season in the BRSCC T-Car Championship in 2004.With several set-up difficulties on his Scorpio Motorsport-run FR 2.0 single-seater car last time out at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in Kent, the 17-year-old drove superbly well to achieve eight points from a weekend where qualifying certainly didn’t go according to plan. But while the vast majority of Will’s rivals are able to focus 100 per cent on their racing, Will has to juggle the intense pressure of motorsport with the equally stressful importance of school-work and exams - as if driving a 140mph racing car wasn’t difficult enough!“I always give my racing maximum concentration and application but school work is obviously very important – you have to be realistic”, said Will. “While my friends can use the weekends to relax a little more and do revision, I have to turn my focus fully on the racing, particularly with this series being so competitive.”Oulton Park holds unique characteristics compared to every other circuit on the 2005 calendar and it normally provides some great Formula Renault UK action, which Will is aiming to be in the thick of as he seeks his first top 10 finish.“Oulton Park is a great circuit but I’ve never actually raced on the Island configuration before”, added Will. “Hopefully we won’t have too many problems as it’s only really a case of one corner which I’m unfamiliar with so we’re confident it shouldn’t take too long to get to grips with the circuit.“We have a lot of work to do to try and make the car more competitive and eradicate the understeer problems we had at Brands Hatch. As ever though, we’re confident and I’ll be giving my all to get the best result possible.”Will is back in action for rounds seven and eight of the 2005 Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin at Oulton Park on Saturday, 18th June, and Sunday, 19th June. Official testing, meanwhile, takes place on Wednesday, 15th June. Will Bratt Championship Position:B4 Group Graduate Cup Class – 1st overallFormula Renault UK Championship with Michelin – 16th overall
