Tomlinson thanks BHRC rivalsIan Tomlinson has publicly thanked his rivals in the 2005 Armajaro MSA British Historic Rally Championship for their efforts to keep him in the recent Mutiny Historic Rally.Tomlinson co-drives for his son Adam in an MG Midget, and they hit trouble on the 17-mile Radnor stage when they cracked the sump towards the end of the stage. While trying to solve the problem, they were parked on the road section after the stage and were amazed when rival crews stopped to offer assistance, in particular, Matt and Dood Pearce and Alison Lock/Joanne Watson. "It was really good of them to stop," said Tomlinson. "It's brilliant, it really is. That's one of the things you notice about historic rallying. People always try and help." Unfortunately, the damage could not be repaired and they were forced to retire. The Tomlinsons will miss the next BHRC round, the Mid-Wales Stages, while Adam is on holiday, but intend to return to the championship later in the season.
