Fleetwood ready for Carrera Cup debut

Reigning British Hillclimb champion Adam Fleetwood will make his Carrera Cup GB debut at Oulton Park this weekend (18/19 June) driving the Porsche Cars with Team Autosport VIP entry. The 25-year old from Brewood in Staffordshire is determined to perform well on the transition from high-powered single-seater hillclimb cars. "I'm going to try and be as competitive as possible," he says. To date, Adam has only raced twice under the wing of the Silverstone Racing School and so the pair of Oulton Park races in front of the BTCC crowds will be his first public races. "It is going to be a bit of a culture shock," admits Fleetwood. "I've never driven at Oulton Park and I've never driven one of these cars before. But I'm going to make the most of the opportunity. I know it's going to be very difficult," says Fleetwood. He has yet to see the challenging Cheshire track, but he has been practicing the circuit at home. "I've driven round it on the Playstation! I deliberately bought one with Oulton Park on it," he says. "I quickly realised that I had to adapt my driving style from hillclimbs. Racing is all about momentum and carrying speed through corners. His first experience of both the Porsche 911GT3 Cup car and the Oulton Park circuit will come during pre-race testing on Friday.
