GT Battle Arrives at Rockingham

New Sideways Spectacle at the UK's Fastest Race Circuit

On Saturday 25th June Rockingham will be the venue for a spectacular new track event - GT Battle.

This is a new venture run by Santreo Promotions Ltd and the company have plans for GT Battle to become the biggest such event in the new sport of Drifting in the UK.  The organizers have said that this is something that every petrol head and car enthusiast will not want to miss.

Drifting is the latest car craze in Japan and has become a recognized sport with a huge following in the Far East.  Drifting is getting a car sideways down a road, but instead of a driver causing a drift and then countering to straighten out, he will instead over-counter so his car goes into another drift. This is ballet on tarmac and the high speeds involved make this an awesome spectacle.

To underline the importance of the GT Battle event, The D1 Corporation are personally flying over two of the worlds leading Drifters over from Japan, complete with their awesome vehicles.  Ken 'Nomuken' Nomura will be drifting his BLITZ R34 Skyline GTT, while current D1 Grand Prix leader Yasuyuki 'The acrobat drifter' Kazama will be using his Prodrive Nissan S15. These D1 drivers are regular participants in the D1 Grand Prix Series, which is the F1 of the Drifting world. This will be the first appearance by current D1 Grand Prix driver's drifting current D1 Grand Prix cars in the UK.

Starting at 9:00, the GT Battle will feature three simultaneous on track competitions.

UK DRIFT BATTLE will be held on a different section of track to the Time Attack and will feature 60 of the UK's and Europe's best drift cars and drivers. The finalists will compete in two-car battles (Twin Drift) for the title of UK Drift Battle Champion.

UK TIME ATTACK will bring together 70 of the fastest road-legal modified cars on the planet. Each will compete against the clock on a section of Rockingham's infield 'street' circuit. ZERO TO SIXTY:  Ever wondered how your car stands up against a 400bhp EVO? Have you had long running arguments with your mates over who has the quickest car? Now is the time to test it! On track, with timing equipment, it's you against the lights! No arguments.

With lots to see and do Tickets are £15(adv) £20 (gate) and are available through the GT Battle website at gtbattle.com
