Ladies are honoured!

The idea of taking ‘wanna-be’, inexperienced guys and teaching them to be racing drivers is becoming more and more fashionable. In the UK, ‘Formula Woman’ was born and there were many of them with absolutely no racing experience. But they discovered the pleasures of competing on circuits, driving Mazda RX8s.

This year, the standard of competition goes up a gear up with the ‘Formula Woman Nations’ Cup’. This time, drivers from all nationalities are invited to compete against each other at the wheel of 120 break horse power Caterhams. The championship consists of four rounds, with two races at each: Brands Hatch, Pembrey, Rockingham and Snetterton! The first event hits our screens on Saturday 6th August from 6pm.

With the Dunlop Extreme Driver Challenge, the reality TV format continues, as men and women are chosen. They all dream of winning a season in the Dutch Supercar Challenge. See how they get on in the 3rd selection tests on the Assen track, Monday 1st August from 8pm.

An exceptional documentary!

Two shows. And they are both needed, especially when there is archival footage tracking the evolution of rallying through the years. And if you consider that the first events date back to the beginning of the last century, you have the oldest motorsport series in the world.

This documentary details the various evolutions of rallying, from the media explosion during the 70’s and the Renault Alpine and on towards today’s WRC. Watch how the stages, cars and technology changes. There is stunning footage. Difficult when you are a rally fan to remain unmoved. You will be on the edge of your seats. Not to be missed.

Rally Evolution, 1st part, Wednesday 24th August from 9.00pm.
