Fast cars Summer Stunt Show

This weekend’s Fast Car event (Sunday 26th June 2005) will be the biggest of the season for Crail Raceway, as the summer weather is expected to draw large numbers to the organized stunt extravaganza for modified car enthusiasts.

At Crail for the first time, stunt driver, Paul Swift, will treat the thousands of spectators to the live demonstrations for which he has now become famous  - performing across Europe and throughout the world.  Although this is the first time that Swift has appeared at Crail Raceway, his legendary father Russ has become a regular at Scotland’s drag strip.

Crowds will be able to see another of the world’s top stunt drivers, Terry Grant, who returns to Crail Raceway for the Fast Car event with an all new display.  Including his new Guinness World Record – for the most number of cars spinning with one driver - Grant now holds 12 titles, including leaving the driving seat, climbing over the roof and returning to his seat through the passenger window, twice in one minute, all while the car performs a donut.

Meanwhile, stunt biker Dave Coates, will perform at Crail alongside ‘Opposite Lock’, back for the first time for 2005, showing off their amazing drift control on the oval. The ‘Drift’ craze - which started in Japan - is now a huge crowd puller at organised events.

The search for the best ‘Show & Shine’ vehicles that Scotland has to offer will continue as part of the day’s line-up, judged by Fast Car magazine.  Demo vehicles imported from the States by major In Car Entertainment (ICE) and performance specialists will also be at the event.

As well as the run what you brung action on the ¼ mile drag strip, which takes place on the mile long runways of the 350 acre, WWII air base, there will be a number of static shows, and an indoor marquee with stalls and trade stands.  There will be further entertainment from Equinox, engine destruction and the burnout & drifting challenge.

Visitors to the event should be on the lookout for ‘Lucky Booty’ tickets throughout the year. With amazing prizes on offer, there will be a number of special entry tickets where the lucky winners can pull in ‘booty’ ranging from car accessories through to a new set of tyres, a ‘Super Chip’ or even a total body re-spray.

The only requirement to take part at Crail is a valid UK driving licence, £10 for admission and a £15 signing-on fee, which entitles participants to unlimited runs. At the end of the day personal performance print-outs showing reaction times to the start lights, 60', 1/4 mile times, and top speed will be given out – personal times can be easily accessed through crailraceway.co.uk

Grampian Television will be filming for its new programme, 'Where's Your Head At'. A seven part entertainment series broadcast on Grampian and Scottish TV, the crew will be looking for people to let rip about issues close to their hearts or things they find infuriating or funny.
