Castle Combe podium for Team Eurotech
Mike Jordan and Michael Caine claimed an excellent podium finish for Team Eurotech in the British GT Championship at Castle Combe on 25/26 June during the John Guest Speedfit Racing Festival.Racing in front of around 2000 visitors from team sponsor John Guest, Jordan and Caine chased the pair of leading Ferraris to finish a strong third in Sunday's hour-long race. That backed up a GT3 class podium finish for the team's Paragon/Cambridge Business Travel-backed Porsche 911GT3 of Mark Sumpter/Steve Wood in Saturday's race.On Saturday, Jordan/Caine raced to fourth place in the John Guest-supported Porsche 911GT3RSR. However, Jordan considered them fortunate to finish after being hit by the Ferrari of Chris Niarchos at Quarry. "We were both lucky to get away with that," he reported. With the similar Preci-Spark backed car of David and Godfrey Jones missing Saturday's race after a spin on the warming-up lap, Sumpter/Scott netted a class podium after a strong performance. It was Sumpter's first British GT race of the season and they had an excellent race to give the car its first podium finish of the year."We were a bit frustrated to be fourth on Saturday, but third on Sunday was a good result," reckoned Jordan. "The Ferraris were as quick as we thought they would be, so third was the best we could realistically hope for," said Jordan. "I was pleased that we were on the podium and we probably couldn’t have had a better result."After a big team effort to get the car repaired, the Jones twins raced well to take fifth place, but there was no repeat podium for Wood/Sumpter after Wood slid into the tyre barrier at Tower Corner on lap 19.Click here for the Castle Combe Circuit web site - designed and built by Racecar
