Car & Classic has launched ‘For the Love of Porsche’, an online auction featuring 24 exceptional Porsche lots
Selected vehicles will be displayed at Megaphonics, Boxengasse’s annual celebration of Porsche, taking place 1–2 August
Highlights include a road-legal Porsche Kremer 962, a rare 996 GT2, a 356 Pre-A Emory Outlaw, a 924 Safari and a Richard Attwood-signed 911 SC bonnet
‘For the Love of Porsche’ auction closes on Saturday 8 August
Car & Classic is celebrating one of the world’s most iconic automotive marques – Porsche – in conjunction with Boxengasse. The ‘For the Love of Porsche’ with an online sale bringing together 23 significant Porsches for enthusiasts and collectors alike. Bidding is open now, with the auction concluding on 8 August.
The ‘For the Love of Porsche’ showcase has been created to highlight the passion and enthusiasm of the Porsche community, showcasing a carefully curated collection, consisting of 22 amazing Porsche cars… and one Porsche tractor. Open to bidders across the globe to view online, curated, UK-based lots will be available to view at Europe’s largest Porsche event, Megaphonics. Megaphonics is Boxengasse’s annual festival of all things Porsche, which takes place this weekend (1–2 August) at Boxengasse’s 40-hectare site, located in Bicester, UK.
Throughout Megaphonics – widely regarded to be Europe’s biggest and best Porsche event – the Car & Classic team will be on site with selected auction vehicles (and some very special display cars including a Porsche 959) to discuss the featured cars, their provenances and unique and incredible histories.
Spanning decades of the marque’s history, the line-up showcases the breadth of the manufacturer, from motorsport legends and modern performance icons to rare collector’s pieces and unexpected curiosities. Here are some selected highlights…
Pipped by Chris Harris as “the one to watch” is a 2003 Porsche 911 996 GT2, one of just 129 right-hand-drive examples delivered to the UK. Powered by the legendary twin-turbocharged Mezger engine and devoid of traction or stability control, the 996 GT2 is revered for its uncompromising, raw driving experience. With fewer than 40,000 miles, impeccable service history and carbon-ceramic brakes fitted as standard, this remarkable example represents a rare opportunity to own arguably the marque's most thrilling modern classic.
For those looking for something a little more adventurous, a 1978 924 Safari is also up for sale and impossible to ignore. Rebuilt to full Safari rally specification and finished in an eye-catching Martini Racing livery, it combines classic Porsche engineering with off-road attitude, making it among the most distinctive and conversation-starting lots in the event.
Among the standout lots is a truly unique piece of memorabilia: a genuine Porsche 911 SC bonnet, personally signed by Le Mans winner Richard Attwood live at Megaphonics 2026. Attwood, who secured the company’s first overall victory at the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans, remains a legendary brand icon. Expertly transformed into bespoke wall art by Bonnet & Boot, this one-off piece offers collectors a rare connection to Porsche’s racing heritage, with all proceeds supporting the charity Hope for Tomorrow and its mobile cancer care units.
Representing the early days of the brand at the auction will be an extraordinary 1955 356 Pre-A Speedster Emory Outlaw. Transformed into a competition car by legendary Outlaw specialists Rod and Gary Emory, it combines highly desirable provenance, documented racing history and eligibility for prestigious events including the Mille Miglia, making it an extremely significant and desirable lot.
However, stealing the spotlight at ‘For the Love of Porsche’ is an incredible 1988 Porsche Kremer 962, a genuine Group C Le Mans racer with an extraordinary pedigree. Campaigned by racing legends including Mario Andretti and Derek Bell, victorious in period and, remarkably, road registered with a UK MoT certificate, it offers an almost unimaginable opportunity to own – and drive – without doubt among the greatest endurance racing Porsches ever built.
To close out the selection from the incredible vehicles, and as proof that not every Porsche has to hit 200mph, we draw your attention to a totally charming 1959 108 tractor – surely the catalogue’s most unexpected star. In wonderfully original condition, it’s a rare reminder that before harvesting lap records, Porsche was busy ploughing fields...
