Inter Europol, Pfaff and Winward Claim Additional Class Wins
An eventful second half of the six-hour Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix produced a new winner to cap off the fourth IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup round of the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing returned to the top of the charts for the first time in more than two years, with the No. 10 Cadillac V-Series.R of Filipe Albuquerque and Ricky Taylor winning at Road America. The pair’s most recent win was on the Streets of Detroit, then fielding an Acura ARX-06, in June 2024 and that was also WTR’s most recent Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) and overall victory. Its Grand Touring Daytona (GTD) entry has won twice since.
Within a pair of back-to-back full-course cautions, Albuquerque leapt first from third to second, then from second to the lead once he passed Jack Aitken in the sister No. 31 Cadillac Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R on a restart with an hour and 26 minutes remaining. There was still one round of pit stops to go though.
Albuquerque dodged a potential disaster when he pitted for the final time with 45 minutes remaining, mere moments before the seventh of nine full-course cautions flew for an incident for a GTD car. As he got in just before the pits would have closed, he maintained track position he otherwise would have lost.
He remained out front through multiple restarts although the race ended behind the safety car.
The GTP podium changed hands inside the final 10 minutes. First, contact occurred between the Nos. 6 and 31 cars heading into Turn 1 when battling for second. Second, the No. 23 car was assessed a post-race time penalty equivalent to a drive-through for incident responsibility with the No. 93 car.
That promoted the No. 5 JDC-Miller MotorSports Porsche 963 up to second with Laurin Heinrich, Kaylen Frederick and Tijmen van der Helm on the podium with the second Cadillac WTR entry, the No. 40 of Jordan Taylor and Louis Deletraz, in third. Both recovered from issues earlier in the race.
Both Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) top finishers needed the run of late-race cautions to make it home on fuel. The Inter Europol Competition team won its second straight race with the trio of Jeremy Clarke, Bijoy Garg and Tom Dillmann atop the charts in the No. 43 ORECA LMP2 07.
The new Lamborghini Temerario GT3 won its first IMSA race in the hands of Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell, who shared the Pfaff Motorsports-entered No. 9 car in Grand Touring Daytona Pro (GTD PRO).
In Grand Touring Daytona (GTD), Winward Racing also won its second straight race. Russell Ward, Philip Ellis and Indy Dontje shared the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3.
