When British motorcycle maker Scott ran into financial trouble, enthusiast Matt Holder set out to give it a future. This 1954 prototype was part of his plan: a development bike built to help shape a new generation of Scotts.
 
Image: The period photograph shows Holder aboard this very motorcycle. Identified in its accompanying archive as Prototype No.2, it comes with extensive historical archive comprising period photographs, contemporary motorcycle press material, Scott Owners’ Club correspondence and later research.

By 1956, Matt Holder’s plans had become reality. This was the very first production motorcycle of Scott’s new Birmingham-built generation: the next chapter in the story that began with the prototypes.

Known as the “First of the Line”, it comes with period photographs and decades of correspondence documenting its history. Even its hand-built fuel tank differs from those fitted to later examples.
