HRCR confirms BHRC contract

The Historic Rally Car Register has won the contract to promote the MSA British Historic Rally Championship for a further three years. The new deal follows an extensive evaluation by the MSA of all major rally championships in the UK.The HRCR has managed the championship for the last five years and has developed the BHRC into a highly successful series, contested by cars spanning 20 years of rallying history, and regularly attracting entries of around 60 cars to each event."This is excellent news," says championship co-ordinator Dave Lucas, who took over the reigns from Brian Thomas at the start of 2005. "We can now take the BHRC into the future with confidence and continue the growth of the championship. We don’t plan to make any radical changes, but we are always talking to our competitors to ensure that the format of the championship is right for the crews."In 2005, the HRCR Classic Stage Rally Challenge for cars up to 1981 has run in tandem with the BHRC and that arrangement will continue into 2006 and beyond. An announcement on the 2006 calendar for the historic, post-historic and classic categories will follow later this summer. BHRC organisers are already in discussion with events about the 2006 programme, which is again set to feature both gravel and asphalt rallies.
