Jordan extends Junior Rallycross lead
Andrew Jordan extended his overall lead in the British Junior Rallycross Championship with victory in the all-important final at Anglesey on Sunday (3 July). The teenager from Sutton Coldfield contested eight races in total, scoring five wins, one second, one third and a fifth in the event that included rounds of both the British Junior Rallycross Championship and the BTRDA Junior Rallycross Championship. It was the first time that Andrew had raced at the Anglesey track in North Wales, but he was immediately on the pace. In the six heats, he won four times, took a second place after he was bumped out of the lead by a rival and finished fifth in the remaining heat when he had major clutch problems. He also overcame a loss of brakes in one of the heats! With his Mini quickly restored to full health, he headed into the final of the BTRDA championship. Unfortunately, he was knocked out of the lead in the early stages and dropped right down to sixth place. Undeterred, Andrew stormed back into contention and caught the two leaders on the last lap as the three cars crossed the line covered by just half a second. Had there been one more lap to go, Andrew may well have grabbed the lead back.In the final of the British championship round, he dominated the action to win and extend his championship lead after four of the eight championship rounds. After a break in the calendar next weekend, Andrew is back in action at the Pembrey track in South Wales on 17 July.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Team Dynamics, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.
