New Sony/McLaren mobile game

SONY PICTURES DIGITAL TAKE POLE POSITION IN THE MOBILE GAME RACE WITH TEAM McLAREN MERCEDES

Sony Pictures Digital has announced the launch of Team McLaren Mercedes Racing, a mobile game that has been designed to capture the competitive spirit of motor racing, and some of the unique attributes of the Team McLaren Mercedes Formula One team.  The game is due to be launched just ahead of the British Grand Prix on Sunday 10th July.

The arcade style game enables players to race as Juan Pablo Montoya, Kimi Raikkonen, Alex Wurz or Pedro de la Rosa either in a quick race or compete for the championship on 16 tracks around the world.

Team McLaren Mercedes is one of the most successful in Grand Prix history with eight Constructors’ World Championship titles and eleven World Drivers’ Championships. The team is currently involved in one of the most exciting battles for both Championships for many seasons. Following Sunday’s French Grand Prix, Team McLaren Mercedes lies in second position in the 2005 Constructors’ World Championship, with Kimi Raikkonen, who took his fifth podium finish of the season, also in second in the Drivers’ table.

“Team McLaren Mercedes is a natural choice for us at Sony Pictures Digital. Their determination to win, their creative approach to technology and their passion for motor sport make them perfect partners in this venture. This game is designed to reflect some of the grit and determination that the team has, and provide racing fans with a feel for the racing experience, albeit in a pocket sized format,” commented Michael Arrieta, Senior Vice President, Sony Pictures Digital

“McLaren and Sony Pictures Digital have similar brand qualities which makes this a strong partnership. It’s difficult to capture the true nature of motor sport in any game, whatever the format, but this game does let you experience the best sensation that you can ever have, and that’s winning,” commented Martin Whitmarsh, CEO Formula One, Team McLaren Mercedes.
