RS International to back European Fiesta

RS International, the Leicestershire based commodities trading company are to back an exciting new project in international rallying.  The programme brings together the new Ford Fiesta Super 1600 car and ex British F2 champions Justin Dale and Andrew Bargery for a series of international rallies including at least one outing in the World Rally Championship.

The new generation Fiesta S1600 is being developed at the impressive M-Sport facility in Cumbria, the home of the BP-Ford World Rally Team.  This specification of car is used for the European Championship and the Junior World Rally Championship featuring a highly tuned front wheel drive 1600cc format with the engine producing well over 200 bhp.

The event programme will be run from the Buckinghamshire base of experienced preparation company RMS who will be co-ordinating the logistics and on event management and provide the technical liaison with M-Sport.  With many of the team having worked with Justin and Andrew on previous WRC events there is already a good team building,

Justin enthused “This is a great opportunity through the support of RS International to take the Fiesta to the British Rally Championship and onto Europe and I am relishing the chance to compete on the International stage again in the S1600 class. Our programme will be concentrating initially on tarmac events which dominate the European rallying scene and are where this class of car excels and we hope to raise a few eyebrows from the established competitors”

The exact programme details will be announced soon but testing is expected to start in July.
