USA Thunder Storms Citrus County Speedway!
The USA Sprints Florida’s # 1 Dirt Sprintcar Organization will make their 2nd visit to the action packed Citrus County Speedway in Inverness Florida Saturday Night July 16th. This will mark the 8th race on pavement for the 2005 Southern Thunder Tour season for the South Florida Dirtcar Series. Recently the USA Sprints switched to the dirt at Putnam County Speedway and Volusia County Speedpark on July 2nd and 3rd but were unfortunately postponed due to rain and will be rescheduled later this year.
There have been 2 different Winners in 2005 with Scotty Adema, the "Fort Myers Flash", who is known as a pavement specialist, taking the checkers six times thus far. Along with Adema "Tiny" Tim George, multi time East Bay Champ, and Winner of the first race at Hialeah Speedway will make his 2nd visit there as well. George will also take his narrow point lead into the Saturday night affair at the quarter mile speedplant. Fans should see Timmy’s # 1 Venice Wrecker Shaw up front as usual.
Word has it that many of the States top drivers are also planning attending CCS. Current Eastbay regulars Donnie Maxwell, the Ford driver from Tampa along with Tim Holston and Danny Jones are expected. Also scheduled to make the trip will be Travis Bleimeister from Venice Florida. Travis ran real good at Putnam in his heat race and has steadily improved in his 2 pavement races thus far as well. Another serious threat will be Greg "The Jet" Leonard from Waumoma Florida. Greg will be in the Clyde and Rob Poole owned Avenger # 85.
Other USA notables that will be expected to run up front are Shane Kreidler from Jupiter Florida who is the 2003 USA Sprints Champion. Kreidler had his old reliable Maxim really hooked up at Auburndale Speedway back on June 18th and was the car to beat until a failed Power steering unit did him and foiled his first ever pavement Victory. Dennis Misuraca who has shown brilliance this year with a steadily improving pavement program will be expected to be a contender as well.
One of the USA newcomers this year hailing from Orlando is the # 63 of David Slawiak who returns to the seat of the Dave Link owned Gambler # 63. Slawiak ran a superb race last time out and took home second best to Scotty Adema who is his former TBARA counterpart. Look for these teammates to hook up again and move to the front. Veterans Bob Parrow, Sean Namor and RC Roper along with 15 year old Rookies Michael Smith and Dakota Stevens will be in the hunt and are drivers to definitely keep your eyes on. Be sure to make plans for this weekend’s race. Call the Track @ 352-726-9339 for more information.
