Brothers Michael and David Pedley will join the HRCR Classic Stage Rally Challenge with a Triumph TR7V8 and plan to make their debut on the Manx Historic Rally (28-30 July). "We've gone a bit giddy buying cars," says Michael. "This TR7V8 came up in Motorsport News, so we bought it!" The car was rallied in the late 1990s and competed in Ypres, but has more recently been used in track days and sprints. It runs in works colours."We've had a fair amount of work done to it; diff, brakes, wiring, etc," says Pedley. "The engine and box are okay. These cars were built like brick outhouses, so I'm hoping we won't have any problems on the Manx. But how far we get is another matter!"The Pedleys have had advice and encouragement from Stephen Hall of TR Enterprises, who already competes in Classics with a TR7 V8 and won the category on the Welsh International earlier this season.Pedley is particularly looking forward to the Manx, which he rates as his favourite event. "You get a lot of stage mileage for your money and it is a fantastic event." However, he is unlikely to get a chance to drive the car in anger before the start of the rally. They hope to contest more Classic rounds this season and may tackle the Trackrod Historic Rally in the Yorkshire forests in October. They will also continue to compete in historic road rallies.
