Calum Lockie and Bo McCormick bagged another top Britcar result when they finished fourth overall and second in class in the three-hour race at Snetterton on Saturday (16 July). Racing McCormick's Ferrari 360, they had an excellent run to finish ahead of many more powerful cars."We had a good day in testing on Friday and Bo was picking up his pace nicely," reported Lockie. "We also got the brakes bedded in ready for qualifying on Saturday morning." McCormick went out first in qualifying to get his three laps done, before the team bolted on new tyres for Lockie to make the big push for grid position."I did a 1m11.8s lap, which is the car's best ever time at Snetterton and that put us sixth overall on the grid, so I was reasonably pleased with that," said Calum.McCormick started the three-hour race and got straight into his stride, lapping faster than ever during his 75-minute stint. "He was really pushing hard and working tremendously well," said Lockie. However, they elected not to pit for fuel during an early caution period, and that cost them time against their rivals.Lockie then jumped aboard with a full fuel load and pushed as hard as possible, whilst looking after the car. "We were gradually picking up places, but the tyres were beginning to suffer and I was getting big oversteer at Riches."Now up to fourth overall, Calum made his final stop with 45m to go for fuel and then charged back into the race. In the final stages, he was closing in on the third-placed Porsche 911GT3 of class leaders Peter Chambers/Mark Sumpter and by the flag he was just five seconds down on Sumpter."It was a good fun race and Bo did a brilliant job," said Lockie after yet another top result for the team. Once again, the Hargreaves Motorsport prepared Ferrari had run faultlessly."Great credit is due to Paul Hargreaves and the team of Melindi, Geoff, Richard and Tim," said Lockie. Thanks are due Bo McCormick for making it all possible and to the sponsors, 1st Class Transport of Milton Keynes, Brian James Trailers, Dunlop and Grand Prix Racewear.
