Jordan extends British championship lead

Andrew Jordan battled through appalling weather conditions to extend his lead in the British Junior Rallycross Championship at Pembrey (South Wales) on Sunday (24 July),Despite a spate of punctures caused by the condition of the track surface, the Sutton Coldfield racer won the British championship final and finished second in the BTRDA Junior Rallycross Championship final. The results from the day mean that 16-year old Andrew has extended his lead in the British championship and continues to lead the BTRDA championship as he battles to win both titles in his Mini this season. The track conditions caused Andrew problems during the heats as heavy rain exposed sharp concrete edges in places and he suffered four broken wheels during the day. Despite finishing two heats with a puncture, he won one heat and took second place in the other five heats. In two cases, he was leading until hit by punctures. He then went out and won the British championship final in convincing style and was leading the BTRDA final when he was pushed wide after contact from another car. He got back into the lead, only for the incident to be repeated and this time he dropped to fourth before he could rejoin. Undeterred, Andrew fought back to second and just ran out of time to re-take the lead.He will next be racing at Mondello Park (Ireland) on 7 August.Andrew Jordan is supported by John Guest, Team Dynamics, Bill Gwynne Rally School and Pirtek.
