There will be a “new look” for Andy Wallace and Milka Duno when they compete this weekend in the Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant at Barber Motorsports Park. Their familiar #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford will feature a special Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) paint scheme and synergistic "Energy to Care" logo for this event.
CITGO, in its second full season of sponsorship of the Howard-Boss Motorsports Team, is celebrating their 20th anniversary as a corporate sponsor of the MDA. CITGO, through scores of fundraising events held each year, has helped raise awareness and over $70 million dollars for the MDA over the length of the successful partnership. Through their association with CITGO, Howard-Boss Motorsports has participated in many of the live and silent auctions held at charity events in support of the MDA.
“The CITGO tagline for their involvement with the MDA is ‘Energy to Care’ and it’s a perfect way to describe their commitment to the MDA," Milka Duno commented. “At this race, the #2 CITGO Pontiac Crawford will proudly promote the 20th anniversary of this great relationship and Andy (Wallace) and I, together with the team, will be dedicating all our energies as well to carry the momentum from the top-five at Daytona toward a podium finish here. It’s always great to race for a win, and it is equally rewarding to race for a cause like the MDA.”
The weekend will certainly be a challenge for Andy Wallace. With an ALMS event in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, Wallace will not arrive at Barber Motorsports Park until Sunday morning. However, the veteran road-racer is looking forward to the event.
“It’ll be hot at Barber, very hot,” Wallace added. “We go well when it’s hot so I’m really looking forward to it (Porsche 250). The track is a bit small (narrow), but there are some quick corners and it’s a tricky place to learn.
“Last year, we were fast, but didn’t have much luck in the race (finished 6th) although the #4 car won, so we have good data to help us this year. Our CITGO Pontiac Crawford has been very fast recently, and I desperately want to add a few race wins to our tally. With the ‘doubleheader’ weekend, it’ll be a busy week. Having the special CITGO/MDA paint scheme this weekend will be added incentive for Milka and me to do well.”
Wallace, Duno and the CITGO Racing Team will be looking for their second win of the 2005 Rolex Sports Car Series season this weekend. The talented duo teamed with Jan Lammers to win the 6 Heures du Circuit Mont-Tremblant (Quebec, Canada) on May 21st. The CITGO Racing Team has three wins in less than two full seasons of Rolex Series competition.
The Porsche 250 presented by Bradley Arant is set for a 1 p.m. ET start on Sunday, July 31st. The Speed Channel will provide live television coverage of the eighth event of the 2005 Rolex Series season.
Milka is currently featured in Pontiac's largest ever Spanish language advertising campaign launching an all-new sports sedan – the Pontiac G6.
