Jordan and Caine plan rallycross debut
Team Eurotech British GT racers Mike Jordan and Michael Caine will make their rallycross debut at Lydden Hill on Monday 29 August during the John Guest-supported meeting. The Porsche racers will both race the team's Peugeot 205GTi in the Stock Hatch category, with one contesting the British Rallycross Championship event and one competing in the BTRDA Rallycross Championship round. With a number of guests from team sponsor John Guest attending the event, Jordan and Caine will share the limelight with young Andrew Jordan, who will continue his bid for the British Junior Rallycross title at the same event.Jordan senior says that the gloves will be off in the competition to be the quicker of the two GT racers. "I will certainly be doing some extra test sessions in the 205, but Michael won't get the chance to even sit in the car before the event! I'll probably engineer the car myself, so that won't help his chances either," says Jordan. Both drivers will benefit from coaching by 16-year old Andrew, a seasoned rallycross veteran in comparison to the GT racers. "We won't be able to blame the car, as Andrew qualified quickest in the Stock Hatches when he drove it in June…"In terms of front-wheel drive experience, Caine is way ahead of Jordan. "Michael's got extensive front-wheel drive experience from when he won his class in the Slick 50 Road Saloon Championship in a VW Sirocco. I've only ever raced front-wheel drive once in a Vauxhall Astra and I crashed that!"However, neither has previously competed in rallycross. "Michael's got plenty of experience of driving on the grass and through gravel, but not of his own choice and usually in a TVR Tuscan or a GT Porsche. I've done a couple of gravel rallies, but I was crap at that," admits Jordan.
