Eurotech to join Carrera Cup in 2006

Team Eurotech will join the Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2006 with at least two cars. The news comes as a further boost for the championship as interest in the 2006 season runs at record levels.Team boss Mike Jordan has unveiled plans to take his highly respected team into the high-profile championship in a long-term project."We're really excited about joining the Carrera Cup for 2006 and beyond," says Jordan. "We've already had approaches from a number of potential drivers. For the team, it is a very strong place to be and this is the ideal time, with the introduction of the new 997 model Supercup car for next season. I'm delighted that Eurotech will be in at the start of the major new three-year commitment from Porsche Cars GB."The move comes as part of a planned expansion for the Birmingham team, which will continue to enter Porsches in GT and long-distance events. "The Carrera Cup will be a major focus of our campaign and we are treating this as a multi-year programme," says Jordan.Team Eurotech will celebrate its 20th year of racing in 2006 and has recorded 31 championship victories, including many with Porsches. From the very beginning of the team in 1987, Eurotech has featured Porsches at the centre of its racing programme.The team's full driver line-up will be confirmed later this year.
