Dunlop Race Academy 2 ...

REACHES FINAL STAGE

It’s crunch time for the final three contestants of the Dunlop Race Academy 2 as they go head to head at Silverstone on Wednesday, August 24th.

Chosen from over 8000 entrants, seven regional winners competed at Donington race track to make the final three and a chance of competing in the Dunlop Driver’s Cup at Brands Hatch.

The seven finalists were scored by the Dunlop Race Academy judges as they completed a full day of intensive driver coaching and evaluation, fitness and media tests on the Donington Grand Prix circuit.

Each driver received tuition and coaching from Le Mans driver Calum Lockie before being taken round the track in his 240BHP Porsche 968 Clubsport with Dunlop SP Super Sport race tyres.

The contestants were then taken through a driving assessment in a fully race prepared, 155BHP Ginetta G20 Cup Car with Dunlop Formula R tyres before their accuracy and precision was tested in a slalom challenge.

The three finalists are Alec Berry from County Durham, Simon Shaw from Warrington and Luke Debono-Wilson from Essex, who will represent the North East, North West and South East.

At Silverstone the three finalists will be provided with further tuition, tests and coaching from Calum Lockie in their bid to become the best driver. The contestants will also be able to gain their MSA race licenses.

The winner will go through to compete in the Dunlop Driver’s Cup at Silverstone on October 8/9; the final round in the highly competitive Ginetta Championship where they will share the track with experienced racers.

Following this they will pick up a club class flight to Monaco, home of the mega rich and famous, for a two-night stay in David Coulthard’s Columbus Hotel. It will be luxury all the way with helicopter transfers and the accessories to look the part, including an Ozwald Boateng bespoke suit and lifestyle accessories from Mulberry, Dunhill, Paul Smith and many more.
