ROCKINGHAM TO STAGE TELEVISED FORMULA WOMAN NATIONS CUP TWO-RACE CHALLENGE ON AUGUST 27/28
Women from all over the world are set to compete in a BARC-organised two-race Nations Cup Challenge event at Rockingham on the weekend of August 27/28. They will drive identical Caterham Roadsport B 1.6-litre K Series-engined cars owned and prepared by Formula Woman.
The event will be broadcast across Europe into 28 countries on Motors TV on Sept 10th
History will be made in the UK as this is the first time 16 women from around the world compete against each other.
A press day will be held prior to the event on the 24th August at Dunsfold Park (home of Top Gear) which is where the Formula Woman team is based. Media opportunities are also available at Rockingham from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th (race day)
Women from as far away as South Africa, USA and Australia will take on the Brits from England Scotland and Wales. The youngest driver is 18 and the oldest is 45

Formula Woman is changing the face of motorsport by giving a platform for women drivers to compete and prove that they are just as competent as their male counterparts.
In 2003/4 over 10,000 women applied to take part in the Formula Woman Competition. From those initial applications, 2,400 women were asked to attend assessments throughout the UK. After a long and difficult deliberation, a panel of judges selected 50 of these women to attend a week-long 'boot camp'. From this 'final 50' only sixteen could make it to the grid.
In 2004, Formula Woman ran a one-make motorsport championship in which sixteen determined women drivers gave their everything in a battle for the coveted Formula Woman Title. This year, it's happening again, plus more besides
