Law and Donohue Bring Brumos Porsche Home 8th in Rolex Series CompUSA 200 at the Glen
With some smart pit strategy and great driving, Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series regulars Darren Law, David Donohue and the Red Bull Brumos Porsche squad brought their #58 Fabcar Daytona Prototype to the checkered flag in 8th place at this past Friday’s CompUSA 200 at the Glen, in Watkins Glen, New York. The 2-hour timed race covered some 75 laps, and marked the 9th round of the 14 race 2005 Rolex Grand American series schedule.Race OverviewAfter three practice sessions that allowed the Brumos crew to work on the set up of the #58 entry, Donohue qualified the car 16th with a lap of 1:10.414 around the 2.45 mile “short course” version of the famed and challenging Watkins Glen International Raceway. Although the Grand American series typically uses the longer 3.4 mile track that includes the famous “boot” section, the short course version of the circuit was used as part of a weekend that included scheduled NASCAR Busch and Nextel Cup series races.Donohue took the green flag and drove a strong stint. He pitted the brilliant blue Red Bull Brumos Porsche for fuel and tires during a full course caution on lap 23, and turned the car over to Law. Law spent the remaining 52 laps of the race carefully and cleanly threading his way through traffic and avoiding the trouble that caused four more full course caution periods, to help give the Brumos squad yet another top ten finish.QuotesDarren Law We weren’t the quickest car in practice, but we made some changes on the setup and started to make some improvements. David drove a great first stint and gave me the car still fresh and fast. I tried to be consistent, and worked on getting some good lap times in, and we ended up doing pretty well. I am happy with the way the day ended up.Upcoming Events / Info The Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series’ next event will be the EMCO Gears Classic at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio the weekend of August 26-27. SponsorsDarren wishes to thank the many supporters of his racing including CDOC, which carries a full line of driver and vehicle safety and performance products. CDOC also carries OMP driving gear, which is Darren’s safety gear of choice.
