Scott scores for DamaxBritish GT driver Aaron Scott became a late addition to the Damax driver line for the Silverstone round of the British GT Championships at the weekend. This was to be Aaron's first race behind the wheel of a Ferrari and he got off to a great start by qualifying the car in 5th position in the GT3 class with a lap time of 1.59.07, some 1.6 seconds faster than last seasons GT3 pole time!Sundays 2 hour race saw difficult conditions, sporadic rain showers made tyre selection difficult. Team mate Jamie Smyth started the race on slicks but was setback to 10th position after a small collision with a Porsche on the opening lap. Jamie climbed back up to 7th before pitting to hand over to Aaron. During the pit stop a heavy rain shower saw the team change to wet tyres for Aaron's stint at the wheel of the Gigawave sponsored Ferrari. Out on track Aaron climbed into a comfortable 3rd place. However a few laps before the flag the sun came out and the track dried, giving competitors on slick tyres a clear advantage. Nevertheless Aaron finished the race in 5th place to score more points for Damax in the teams Championship.Aaron said, "It was great to drive the Ferrari for Damax and I have to thank Robin and Henry for giving me this opportunity. The team did a superb job throughout the weekend, we were unlucky with the tyre call in the pit stop as the weather could have gone either way but it made for a very entertaining race for both drivers and fans. I really enjoyed the weekend and very much hope to stay with Damax for the rest of the British GT season . "Aaron is now preparing for the first ever 24 hour race to be held at Silverstone on 10-11 September where he will be back with Beechdean Motorsport driving their BMW M3.
