Knockhill Challenge Awaits Bratt

.... After Exam Success

Fife’s picturesque countryside will provide a glorious setting next weekend, 27th/28th August, for the 13th and 14th rounds of the Formula Renault UK Championship with Michelin, with teenage ace Will Bratt looking forward to his return to Knockhill Circuit. The 17-year-old from Adderbury in Oxon can’t wait for Formula Renault UK’s sole visit of the year north of the border having enjoyed great success at the home of Scottish motorsport during his title-winning season in BRSCC T-Cars in 2004.Two dominant race victories and a new T-Car lap record were the reward for a stunning performance from Will during his last visit to Knockhill and while the challenge facing him next weekend is altogether different, confidence is high. Will’s pre-Knockhill build-up has also received a welcome boost today (Thursday) in the form of a set of stunning AS Level exam results. From five subjects taken, Will passed with flying colours to gain A-grades in Art, History, Mathematics and Religious Studies, along with a B-grade in Chemistry. In History, Will astounded his Bloxham School tutors by scoring just two marks off an incredible 100 per cent success rate, but the true icing on the cake was in Maths in which he took the full A Level exam and achieved a superb A-grade.Speaking on his academic success, Will said: “I’m delighted with my results but I was disappointed to miss out on an A-grade in Chemistry. I suppose that’s all part of the mentality of a racing driver – I know the other grades were what I wanted but my focus is on where I could have done better!”Will’s attention now though, must turn back to his racing and the 360-plus mile journey next week from the family home near Banbury to Knockhill Circuit, near Dunfermline, in Scotland. During the last two rounds at Snetterton in Norfolk, qualifying proved to be problematic for Will and seriously compromised what he was able to achieve in the races. However, his Scorpio Motorsport team and Will himself are heading to Scotland firmly focused on being a major factor in rounds 13 and 14 of the season.“We’re looking forward to Knockhill and we’re confident we can get the car working well and push further up the grid”, added Will. “I’m not sure if we’ll break into the top 10 but I’m certain we can perform better than the immediate group of drivers we’re up against and so anything’s possible“I like Knockhill and it was a very good circuit to me last year during T-Cars. We left Scotland with two wins and a new lap record then. We know that’s almost completely impossible this year in Formula Renault UK, but I am confident around Knockhill and if we can achieve a top 10 we’ll be absolutely delighted.”Official testing will be held on Friday, 26th August, with qualifying scheduled for Saturday, 27th August. Rounds 13 and 14 of the season then take place on Sunday, 28th August.
