Superb line-up for Porsche Festival

An entry of around 150 Porsches has been assembled for the Porsche Festival at Brands Hatch over the Bank Holiday weekend of 27-29 August. The event is once again the highlight of the racing season for the Porsche Club GB.As well as double-header rounds of the Michelin Porsche Club Championship and Michelin Porsche Open Series, the weekend will include races for the BRSCC Porsche 924 Championship, a round of the Michelin Porsche Club Speed Championship, and the Porsche 4-Cylinder Trophy Races.Sunday's racing will be topped by the annual Bill Taylor Memorial race, which is a round of the Michelin Porsche Open Series. A capacity grid has entered for the hour-long race, headed by series pacesetter Richard Chamberlain who is sharing his mighty 935 with seasoned Porsche racer Josh Sadler.Ranged against the 935 will be the beautiful 996GT2R of Rupert Lewin, the 911GT3RS of Gerry Harrison and 993GT2s for Mark Chilton, Paul Howells and Paul Daniels. Meanwhile, renowned engine builder Phil Price is stepping up from speed events in his massively powerful 911RS Turbo.A total of seven 911GT3 Cup cars will pack out class two, with the pace likely to be set by the cars of Peter Chambers/Mark Sumpter and Craig Rapp/Adam Richardson. Henry Firman/Peter Morris return to the Porsche Open while newcomer Sean Breslin also has a 911GT3 Cup.A tremendous class three line up includes Simon and Gary Taylor in the famous Carrera RS raced by their late father Bill, while father and son combo Gary and Lewis Tootell will share the 968CS that Lewis has been racing this season. Gary is breaking an 18-year lay-off from racing for the occasion!The pair of races for the Michelin Porsche Club Championship will come at a critical stage of the season-long championship battle, as only two races remain after the Brands double-header.Tony Brown (3.2 Carrera) leads overall, but rising stars Tootell and Andy Purdie (3.2 Carrera) have hit great form in recent races. Rejoining the field is former Club champion and British GT racer Colin Broster is his 3.2 Carrera, which has been raced recently by Marcus Clutton.Meanwhile, the pair of 4-Cylinder Trophy races and the 924s will feature 20-car grids, and 50 cars will take part in a round of the Michelin Porsche Club Speed Championship.
