McNish/Ortelli strong 2nd at Nürburgring

Following their victory at Silverstone, Audi factory driver Allan McNish and Stéphane Ortelli also thrilled the spectators in round four of the Le Mans Endurance Series (LMES).

Despite their Audi R8 not being the fastest car in the Nürburgring 1000 kilometre race because of the handicaps imposed by the regulations, they were able to take the lead taking advantage from the reliability of the R8 and the economic fuel consumption of the Audi Turbo FSI engine.

Only 12 minutes from the end of the six-hour race, they lost the lead to the lighter and more powerful Zytek prototype driven by Hayanari Shimoda and Tom Chilton. Audi PlayStation Team ORECA missed its second consecutive LMES win by just 10.767 seconds.
