Title rivals head Milton Keynes line-up

Five of the top drivers in this year’s Dunlop MSA British British Touring Car Championship – including title rivals Matt Neal and Yvan Muller – will take part in the BTCC’s eagerly anticipated city street demonstration in Milton Keynes on Thursday 15 September.

Starting at 19.00, Neal will drive his Team Halfords Honda Integra and Muller Vauxhall’s Astra Sport Hatch down the city’s Avebury Boulevard before they go head-to-head on the track at Silverstone just a few days later on Sunday 18 September.

Joining them in the high-speed demonstration will be fellow big name stars Jason Plato in Milton Keynes-based SEAT’s Toledo Cupra, Tom Chilton in Arena Motorsports’ Honda Civic and, fresh from his maiden BTCC race win at Knockhill, Rob Collard in the WSR team’s MG ZS.

Feeling right at home along the tree-lined Avebury Boulevard will be the Tech-speed team’s ‘green’ bio-ethanol-powered Vauxhall Astra Coupé driven by Fiona Leggate. Also in action will be James Kaye, in the Synchro Motorsport Honda Civic, Richard Williams, in HPI Racing with Friends Reunited’s Lexus and Mark Proctor, in his Fast-Tec team’s Vauxhall Astra Coupé.

Adding to the action on Avebury Boulvard will be a car each from the BTCC’s high-profile support championships. Of the single-seater categories, current points leader Sam Bird will drive his Fortec Motorsport team’s Formula BMW, while James Jakes will be in Team AKA’s Formula Renault.

Tim Harvey, the 1992 BTCC champion, will demonstrate Porsche’s new Carrera Cup GB race car, the 2006-spec 997, current SEAT BTCC ace James Pickford will be at the wheel of one of the Spanish manufacturer’s Leon Cupras and title protagonist Ed Pead will be in his Boulevard Racing team’s Renault Clio Cup car.

After the event, the crowds will be able to meet the BTCC and support race drivers during a special autograph session outside Milton Keynes’ Xscape leisure complex. All will have already taken part in autograph sessions in Milton Keynes’ thecentre:mk shopping hall from 14.00-16.00 as part of a championship display held throughout the day.
