Milton Keynes debut for 2006 Carrera Cup
The stunning new 997-model Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, which will be used exclusively in the 2006 Carrera Cup GB, will run in public for the first time at Milton Keynes on Thursday, 15 September.With Carrera Cup front-runner Tim Harvey at the wheel, the new car will take part in a city centre demonstration alongside cars and drivers from the MSA British Touring Car Championship. The cars will be shown off to the public on the tree-lined Avebury Boulevard from 7pm as a preview to the following race weekend at the nearby Silverstone circuit.As part of the promotion for the BTCC and its support races, the race cars will be demonstrated on the closed roads adjacent to the Xscape leisure complex and the city's massive indoor shopping hall, thecentre:mk.Although the new 997-model Porsche has been tested at the Pembrey race circuit, this will be its first public demonstration. With record levels of interest from teams and drivers for the 2006 season, the first chance to see the Carrera Cup GB-specification 997 in action will be eagerly awaited.Prior to taking to the racing Porsche onto the city centre streets, Harvey will join many of the BTCC racers in a series of autograph sessions in the impressive Middleton Hall inside thecentre:mk. One of the current Carrera Cup cars will also be on display to give potential visitors to Silverstone a taste of the action to come.
