With another pole and double lights to flag victory Australian F4000 Ralt Australia driver Peter Hackett does it again to finish on the podium for his seventh straight race win this year and collecting the points he further extended his lead in the F4000 Championship at Oran Park Raceway this weekend.
Unbeatable all year, this weekend proved to be no different as Hackett qualified his N# 1 Reynard on pole with a 1.03.50 positioning himself perfectly for the first race Sunday.
Getting a good start in the opening lap in race one, Hackett lead a perfect race, building a half second gap over his second place challenger by the fourth lap; he crossed the line to take a convincing first race win.
On pole again for the second race and fastest off the line he lead the field into the first corner for the eighteen lap race. Out front he maintained a steady pace until the seventh lap when a spin by another competitor resulted in the safety car. The field tightly bunched as two laps were completed under safety car conditions before Hackett getting a good restart went on to do it again; taking the chequered flag he punched the air with excitement as he crossed the line for his second race win.
“We struggled with speed and set up for qualifying, a change to the car for race one and it was perfect all weekend”. “A bit of debris laying on the track made things interesting’. “I couldn’t afford to make mistakes this weekend not with the Championship only one round away so my strategy was just to bring the car home safely across the line for the win(s)”. “Again I couldn’t do it with out the support of the team, my sponsors and the spectators“. “All in all, a perfect weekend, one more to go” said a very happy weekend winner.
Hackett will be racing to wrap up both the Australian F4000 and GT Championship titles when the final round decider of the Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS) gets underway at Wakefield Park on the 12-13th November.
