Bridgman set for Carrera Cup at Brands

Young racing driver Tim Bridgman will be the guest in the final two rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch on 1/2 October, driving the car entered by Porsche Cars GB in association with Team Autosport.

Currently racing in British F3, Bridgman, a finalist in the McLaren/Autosport/BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award in 2004, will drive a Porsche 911 for the first time in the pair of races on the iconic Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch in Kent.

"It's great to be offered the drive in the Carrera Cup; I'm looking forward to it from many angles," says the 20-year-old from Dunmow in Essex.  "It's always a bonus to have the opportunity to race a different car - as a driver it's beneficial to try your hand at other classes of racing. It's going to be something quite exciting because it's unlike anything I've driven before."

Bridgman will be back racing after being forced to miss the previous F3 rounds due to burns incurred in a domestic accident. Bridgman says he is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel. "It's good to be fully on the mend and ready to race again," he says.

The drive in the 180mph Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car will be his first time racing in anything other than a single-seater. "I'm sure it's going to be a fun car to race," Tim adds. "I'd like to thank Porsche Cars GB and Autosport magazine as well as my sponsors for making this possible."
